Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

capacitacion

Teaching is about conveying experiences, knowledge and principles. This task demands focus and effort. Through CPD courses (e-Learning and in-class), we wish to convey what the student wishes to learn.

A professional translator needs CPD in order to succeed. However, teaching methods are as different as the teachers themselves.

Our goal is not to teach, but that you learn. We do not intend to teach you how to translate; we want to provide with the tools you need to render your services in those fields that are yet unknown to you, but in which you would like to specialize.

Since we are proficient in the areas of medicine and animal health, we want to share this knowledge with those that are interested in becoming a fully-fledged specialized translator.

Translation of medical texts is as old as medicine itself. It is an essential task that cannot be avoided when the goal is to communicate medical knowledge. This type of translation work is complex, so the translator needs constant training, as well as a full-time job translating this kind of material. That is exactly what we do. Medicine is a vast field within the translation industry, making our role as specialized translators more necessary every day.

Medical translation includes all kinds of texts aimed at doctors, patients, healthcare facilities, the general public and the whole health and pharmaceutical industry, whether they pursue approval, informative or marketing purposes.

Veterinary science is a very important and specific field within the translation industry, in which non-specialized translators will hardly provide accurate and quality services. This is due to the different and specific environments in which the participants of this industry play their part. Furthermore, the terminology used in this field demands accuracy and quality when providing translation services.

FAQ

A Sworn Translator is a college professional governed by Act No. 20,305 and entitled to provide translation services of all documents written in a foreign language that need to be submitted before official agencies and entities. They are the only professionals authorized to certify a translation by means of their signature and seal. This notary powers make them essential partners when the client needs a translation certified by a Sworn Translators' Association. Sworn Translators also provide their services for private clients that require professional and specialized translations of all kinds of materials.
The translation of a document from a foreign language into the national language, from the national language into a foreign language, or from one foreign language into another, is a certified translation when it bears the signature and seal of a translator registered in the language pair involved, in strict compliance with the formalities established by the CTPCBA which, in our case, is the association that certifies the translator's signature and seal stamped in the translation. Thus, Sworn Translators, through their signature, certify the accuracy of the translated text and are ethically and legally responsible for their work.
When a translation is certified, it is a sworn translation. Through certification, the CTPCBA certifies that the signature and seal stamped in the translation are those of a registered active translator, and that the translation has been carried out in accordance with the standards mandated by this Institution.
The following certification costs are those in force as of January 1st, 2020.
  • 24-hour certification: ARS 640
  • Urgent certification (approx. 20 minutes): ARS 630
  • Certificates (24 hours): ARS 600
Certifications are carried out at the CTPCBA, located at Av. Corrientes 1834 (Buenos Aires City).
Business hours: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
